Statement

My Rt Hon Friend the Minister of State for Policing, Fire and Crime Prevention (Dame Diana Johnson) has today made the following Written Ministerial Statement:

The Government has implemented the ban on zombie-style knives and zombie-style machetes approved by Parliament last year and the ban came into force on 24th September 2024.

It follows the holding of a surrender and compensation scheme that ran from 25th August and concluded on 23rd September 2024. An analysis of the scheme is set out below.

It should be noted that the figures in this analysis only include weapons handed in at designated police stations (or by arrangement with the police). The figures do not include any weapons placed in surrender bins during the Surrender scheme.
