To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, if he will take steps to work with the Patient Safety Commissioner to conduct a review of electroconvulsive therapy.

The Patient Safety Commissioner is a statutory office holder, acting independently of Government. The Commissioner promotes the safety and views of patients and the public in relation to medicines and medical devices, as stated in the Medicines and Medical Devices Act 2021. The Patient Safety Commissioner has been in post since September 2022. The Commissioner has been engaging with stakeholders to develop an annual business plan, which will be published in due course.
