To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, if she will make representations to her counterparts in Mozambique on the need for a credible and independent investigation into the killing of Selemani Masiya on 7 July 2022.

The British High Commission in Mozambique is aware of the sad death of Selemani Masiya on 7 July. It is of course the responsibility of the Mozambican authorities to investigate the killing. As with investigations into any crime, the UK encourages the Government of Mozambique to conduct the investigation promptly and in accordance with Mozambican law.
