To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, whether she has had discussions with representatives of the Metropolitan Police following the strip search of a 15-year-old black student in a Hackney-based secondary school.

Strip search is one of the most intrusive powers available to the police and the reports of this incident are deeply concerning.
It was referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) last year and the IOPC served misconduct notices on three police constables and are now nearing completion of their investigation.
We must now let the IOPC conclude its work. We expect the Metropolitan Police Service to respond to the IOPC’s findings swiftly and for policing across England and Wales to learn lessons where applicable. Whilst this is an operational policing matter, the Home Office will consider any broader implications from this case.
