The programme to replace the UK's Sovereign Nuclear Warhead continues to be subject to across Government scrutiny, oversight, and approvals processes. The Strategic Outline Case for the UK's Replacement Warhead programme was reviewed and approved by the Cabinet Office's Major Programme Review Group in September 2021.

The UK's Replacement Warhead will not be required until the 2030s. The programme is still in its early preliminary phases and it is therefore too early to provide a cost estimate at this stage. As the programme develops and goes through the Departmental and Treasury approvals process, the current levels of uncertainty will reduce.
