To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, whether the Department is monitoring the actions of UK nationals acting as mercenaries in the Ukraine.

Where a UK national travels overseas to engage in potentially unlawful combat or conflict, they should expect to be investigated upon their return to the UK, to establish whether they pose a risk and whether any offences have been committed.
Any decision to prosecute will be a matter for the Police and Crown Prosecution Service, both of whom are operationally independent of Government.
