No specific assessment has been made. However, subject to the passage of the Health and Care Bill, certain specialised services may become subject to joint commissioning arrangements between NHS England and multiple integrated care boards in the future.
The services which would benefit from this approach remain under consideration and further details will be set out ahead of any decisions to formally delegate commissioning responsibility in the future. NHS England will retain overall accountability for all specialised services, including those that are jointly commissioned or delegated, as well as retaining responsibility for setting national standards and clinical policies determining access to both new and existing treatments.
