To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what assessment he has made of the potential merits of the recommendations of the Institute for Public Policy Research's report, entitled All aboard: a plan for fairly decarbonising how people travel, published in June 2021, on (a) commitments to peak car ownership by 2030 and (b) setting targets for the UK's car fleet by 2050.

In July the Government published its transport decarbonisation plan which sets an ambitious, but credible pathway to net zero emissions from transport by 2050.
The plan sets out the measures that will be taken to accelerate modal shift to public and active travel, reducing the reliance on cars. We have also committed to ending the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2030 and by 2035 all new cars sold must be zero emission capable.
