To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what steps his Department is taking to increase the provision of social care in the North East of England.

Local authorities, including those in the North East, are responsible for assessing individual’s eligibility for care and support as set out in the Care Act 2014 and where eligible, meeting those needs. Local authorities are also responsible for commissioning adult social care in their area and ensuring that services meet the needs of their local population.
