Angola: Bomb Disposal

Question for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, how much funding his Department has provided for mine clearance on contaminated land around Cuito Cuanavale in Angola.

The UK Government has provided £9.3 million for mine action in Angola since 2018. By March 2021, this funding had cleared and confirmed safe over 26.6 million square metres of land, the equivalent of 3,700 football pitches, and delivered risk education to 86,700 people. We do not hold data on the proportion of funding used for work around Cuito Cuanavale.
