Armed Forces Day

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what plans he has to help promote public celebrations of Armed Forces Day in June 2022 and future years.

Every year, the Ministry of Defence encourages members of the public to either organise or attend Armed Forces Day celebrations in their area. We also support the hosts of the Armed Forces Day national event to promote their event and use media opportunities to bring the celebrations to a wide public audience. This includes a range of promotional and ceremonial activity on social media, with broadcasters and in print and online.

The Armed Forces Day website allows members of the public to search for events in their area and see the options on a map. While the scale of community events on Armed Forces Day in 2020 and 2021 was limited due to ongoing coronavirus restrictions, we will continue to encourage Armed Forces Day celebrations across the country in the future.

We have worked closely with Scarborough Borough Council on their plans throughout the pandemic and look forward to them hosting the Armed Forces Day national event in 2022.
