Yemen: War Crimes

Question for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, what assessment his Department has made of whether war crimes are being committed in Yemen.

The UK is aware of these reports and takes alleged violations of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) extremely seriously. It has been the Government's long-standing policy that any determination of war crimes should only be made by a competent court, rather than by a government or non-judicial body. The UK calls on all the parties to the conflict to cease and investigate such attacks on civilians, respect human rights and comply with their obligations under IHL.
