What estimate he has made of the number of hospital patients diagnosed with covid-19 in October 2020 who contracted that virus while in hospital.

NHS England data shows that, in October, there were 3,934 new hospital admissions where the patient was diagnosed with COVID-19 in hospital from a test taken eight or more days after admission.
However, we know that the incubation period of COVID-19 can be as long as 14 days, so it possible that some of these patients may have contracted the virus before admission.
We continue to work to reduce hospital transmission as a priority.

Named day
Named day questions only occur in the House of Commons. The MP tabling the question specifies the date on which they should receive an answer. MPs may not table more than five named day questions on a single day.
