Chronic Illnesses: Students

Question for Department of Health and Social Care

UIN 101013, tabled on 8 October 2020

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what support is available for university students with (a) cystic fibrosis and (b) other long-term health conditions who are required to self-isolate on campus, to ensure they can access appropriate medications, dietary requirements and medical care.

Higher education providers have a duty of care to provide practical support to students during self-isolation and we are continuing to work closely with the Department for Education to help meet student needs.

This includes ensuring that students with cystic fibrosis or other long-term health conditions who are required to self-isolate have the right access to additional support from their university or National Health Service volunteers to access food or medical provision.
