Armed Conflict: Civilians

Question for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office

UIN 96073, tabled on 28 September 2020

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, which Minister is responsible for delivering the commitments set out in the new UK Approach to Protection of Civilians in Armed Conflict.

1 October 2020

The Protection of Civilians (PoC) agenda is a cross-Government initiative. HMG's approach paper was drafted in collaboration between the former Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the former Department for International Development and the Ministry of Defence. It does not change departmental responsibilities. In line with the breadth and complexity of PoC issues, ranging from humanitarian access to urban warfare, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and the Ministry of Defence will continue to work closely together on the areas of focus set out in the paper.
