Question for Women and Equalities

UIN HL5809, tabled on 16 June 2020

To ask Her Majesty's Government what plans they have to ensure that they take action to address racism and inequality as the new commission on race and ethnic disparities is conducting its investigations rather than waiting for the inquiry to end.

The Government is committed to tackling racism and levelling up. The Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities will build on the work of the Government’s Race Disparity Unit (RDU), going further to understand why disparities exist and will present recommendations for action across Government and other public bodies. The RDU is already carrying out work across departments and their agencies to identify and address adverse variances in outcomes across education, healthcare, criminal justice and the economy, and will continue to do so as the Commission works.
