The National Planning Policy Framework sets out the Government’s planning policy. In reaching decisions on planning applications, local planning authorities must take account of national planning policy including, where relevant, the policies around delivering affordable housing and conserving and enhancing the historic environment. They must weigh up these and any other relevant considerations and reach a balanced and proportionate judgment in each case.
