Question for Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government

UIN 46646, tabled on 13 May 2020

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, whether he plans to undertake a review of review of the adequacy of space standards in planning regulations as a result of the effect of the covid-19 outbreak.

Local planning authorities are able to apply the optional technical Nationally Described Space Standard where justified, through their development plan policies. The Government does not plan to review its space standard at present, although it does intend to consult shortly on the application of optional technical standards for accessible housing under Part M of the Building Regulations.
