The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care announced on 27th April a scheme where families of eligible NHS and care workers, who die from coronavirus in the course of their frontline work, will receive a £60,000 payment.

The Government is also looking at other professions that work on the frontline against coronavirus, who may not have access to death in service schemes, to see where this may be required. These discussions are ongoing as the situation evolves and will be considered carefully across government.
