Pakistan: Freedom of Expression

We are concerned by restrictions on the freedom of expression in Pakistan. We regularly remind the Government of Pakistan of its human rights obligations, including on the freedom of expression. The freedom to hold and express views without censorship, intimidation or unnecessary restriction is a cornerstone of democracy. Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon, Minister for South Asia and the Commonwealth, raised our concerns about human rights in a letter to Pakistan's Human Rights Minister in February 2020.
