Asylum: Employment

Question for Home Office

UIN 1776, tabled on 9 January 2020

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how many asylum applicants were granted permission to work in the UK in 2019.

The data requested on the number of asylum seekers granted permission to work in 2019 is only held on paper case files or within the notes sections of the Home Office's databases. This information is not held in a reportable format and to obtain it would exceed the disproportinate cost threshold.

Named day questions only occur in the House of Commons. The MP tabling the question specifies the date on which they should receive an answer. MPs may not table more than five named day questions on a single day.
