Canada: Religious Freedom

Question for Foreign and Commonwealth Office

UIN 269734, tabled on 26 June 2019

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, if he will hold discussions with the Quebec Government on Bill 21 on the wearing of religious symbols by public officials at work.

Answered on

2 July 2019

Quebec has a democratically elected government that makes its own decisions on such matters. It would be inappropriate for the British Government to seek to influence Quebec's internal affairs.
