British Nationality: Electronic Government

Question for Home Office

UIN HL14965, tabled on 1 April 2019

To ask Her Majesty's Government under what powers they now require that specified nationality applications, including for registration of British citizenship, must be made online; and what representations they have received which question the introduction of such a requirement.

UK Visas and Immigration does not require specified nationality applications, including citizenship applications, to be made online. It is still possible for customers to apply on the paper forms if they need to do so. However, customers are encouraged to use the intuitive online application service wherever possible and assisted digital support is made available to those who would otherwise struggle to make an online application.
