Ministry of Defence: Roll-on Roll-off Ships

Question for Ministry of Defence

UIN 235401, tabled on 21 March 2019

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what discussions he has had with the Secretary of State for Transport on using Point Class ferries to manage pressures at UK ports after the UK leaves the EU.

I have discussed this issue with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Transport (Chris Grayling). Any potential use of Defence's Point Class ferries would complement the £88.8 million worth of additional roll-on, roll-off ferry capacity that Government has secured to provide additional freight capacity in the event of the UK leaving the European Union without an agreement.
