Civil Servants: Equal Pay

Question for Cabinet Office

UIN 233585, tabled on 18 March 2019

To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, what steps he is taking to ensure gender pay equality in the civil service.

Answered on

The priority given to ensuring equal pay is reflected in the Civil Service Management Code and Civil Service pay guidance each year. Departments are obliged to ensure they are complying with equal pay legislation as employers and showing due regard to their equality obligations as public sector organisations as set out under the public sector equalities duty.

This includes a commitment to work with all government departments to tackle the gender pay gap, publishing gender pay gap statistics and complying with all Equal Pay legislation under their delegated pay responsibilities.
