Saudi Arabia: Foreign Relations

Question for Foreign and Commonwealth Office

UIN HL10920, tabled on 22 October 2018

To ask Her Majesty's Government, further to the report by Kings College London, Security Cooperation with Saudi Arabia: Is it worth it for the UK?, published in September, what assessment they have made of the case to uphold international rules-based order in relation to Saudi Arabia.

The UK has an important strategic partnership with Saudi Arabia involving defence and security cooperation which has saved lives on the streets of Britain. We also have a trading partnership that supports thousands of jobs.

The UK is committed to upholding the rule of law and the rules-based international system and we expect our partners to do likewise. We make this point very clearly in public and in private.
