Universal Credit

Question for Department for Work and Pensions

UIN 151086, tabled on 7 June 2018

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, how many and what proportion of universal credit claimants who are in employment are paid (a) monthly, (b) four-weekly, (c) fortnightly and (d) weekly.

The information requested is not readily available and to provide it would incur disproportionate cost.

However, based on current numbers of Tax Credit claimants paid on particular patterns, we estimate the proportion of employees that are likely to be paid according to different pay frequencies once Universal Credit is fully rolled out to be:

Monthly / four weekly: 69%

Weekly: 26%

Fortnightly: 3%

Named day questions only occur in the House of Commons. The MP tabling the question specifies the date on which they should receive an answer. MPs may not table more than five named day questions on a single day.
