Israel: Arms Trade

Question for Foreign and Commonwealth Office

UIN HL8091, tabled on 21 May 2018

To ask Her Majesty's Government what representations they have made to the government of Israel about the use of arms approved for sale to Israel.

The Government takes its defence exports responsibilities extremely seriously and operates some of the most robust export controls in the world. We assess all applications very carefully against the Consolidated EU and National Arms Export Licensing Criteria and human rights and international humanitarian law considerations are important parts of that assessment. We continue to keep the situation under constant review. We have no information to suggest that UK supplied equipment has been used against protesters. While we do not question the right of Israel to defend its borders, the use of live fire and the resulting loss of life is deeply troubling.
