To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, whether he has plans to raise issues relating to freedom of religion or belief in Mexico at that country's Universal Periodic Review in November 2018.

We are working closely with the Government of Mexico to tackle corruption and strengthen the legal system, which some reports suggest are contributing factors to violations of Freedom of Religion or Belief. UK Ministers and officials at our Embassy in Mexico City have raised, and will continue to raise, our human rights concerns with the Mexican Government. We stay in close touch with Civil Society Organisations in Mexico and the UK to help inform our understanding of the situation on the ground. We engage consistently and comprehensively in the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) process and are considering our recommendations ahead of the next UPR of Mexico in November 2018.
