Immigration: Windrush Generation

Question for Home Office

UIN HL7729, tabled on 9 May 2018

To ask Her Majesty's Government what assessment they have made of the effect of Windrush immigration failures on the pensions of those affected by those failures; and whether they will take this into consideration when considering the level of compensation that affected individuals will receive.

The Government is clear that where the Windrush generation have suffered loss, they will be compensated and the Home Office is setting up a new scheme to deliver this, which will be overseen by an Independent Person.

As a first stage, the Home Office has launched a Call for Evidence which is an opportunity for those who have been affected, and their families, to tell us what happened, how it has affected them and what they believe the compensation scheme needs to address.

The information supplied as part of the Call for Evidence will be used to inform the design options and scope of a compensation scheme.
