Our Embassy in Tashkent regularly raises human rights issues, including individual cases, with the Uzbek authorities, and plays an active and visible part in human rights activities in Uzbekistan. We welcome the Uzbek government's commitment to review legislation on the registration of religious organisations and to adopt an action plan to implement the UNSR's recommendations, following the visit of Dr Ahmad Shaheed, the UN Special Rapporteur (UNSR) on Freedom of Religion or Belief, to Uzbekistan in October last year.
