To ask Her Majesty's Government what assessment they have made of the consequences for the Irish border of being outside a customs union with the EU.

We have been clear throughout that we are firmly committed to avoiding any physical infrastructure on the border between Northern Ireland and Ireland. The principles in the Joint Report from the UK and EU negotiators are a welcome agreement on this crucial issue. We have reached a balanced set of commitments that reiterate both our commitment to avoid a hard border, and our clear position on preserving the constitutional and economic integrity of the UK.
