To ask Her Majesty's Government what is their response to the report by the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, published on 23 October; and how they assess what is a reasonable and expeditious time period for bringing the occupation to a close.

The UK remains concerned about the human rights situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPTs). We remain firmly committed to the promotion and protection of human rights and compliance with international law in the OPTs. We have a regular dialogue with the Government of Israel with regard to the implementation of their obligations under international law and regularly and robustly raise our serious concerns on issues relating to Israeli actions in the OPTs. The Government firmly believes a just and lasting resolution that ends the occupation and delivers peace for both Israelis and Palestinians is long overdue. Without a negotiated settlement the occupation and the problems that come with it will continue.
