To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, what assessment his Department has made of the effect of reductions in social care funding on the delayed transfer of care.

Earlier this year, the Government gave councils access to £9.25 billion more dedicated funding for adult social care over the next three years. This includes an additional £2 billion of funding in England, as announced at the Spring Budget 2017. One of the three purposes of this funding was to reduce pressures on the NHS, including supporting more people to be discharged from hospital when they are ready and we know local authorities are putting resources into this. However, performance is not just about money, and considerable variation remains across the country. We will be monitoring the position carefully on delayed transfers of care in the run up to winter.
