To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, if his Department will take steps to protect and widen derogations for community transport operators to operate vehicles under a Section 19 or 22 permit after the UK leaves the EU.

The Department remains committed to supporting community transport operators. The Department will carry out a public consultation later this autumn, which will set out the changes needed to the guidance on the issue and use of permits.
Until exit negotiations are concluded, the UK remains a full member of the European Union and all the rights and obligations of EU membership remain in force. During this period the Government will continue to negotiate, implement and apply EU legislation. It would be inappropriate to speculate as to any legislative action which the government may take when the exit negotiations are concluded, for the purpose of implementing the European Union (Withdrawal) Bill.
