Yemen: Press Freedom

Question for Foreign and Commonwealth Office

UIN HL6233, tabled on 21 March 2017

To ask Her Majesty’s Government what representations they have made to the government of Saudi Arabia regarding enabling journalists to enter Yemen.

Answered on

3 April 2017

This Government recognises the importance of free movement of journalists to cover issues of global importance. This must be balanced against security and safety considerations. The Government currently advises against all travel to Yemen.

The Foreign Secretary last spoke to the Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister, Adel al Jubeir on 22 March and discussed the importance of finding progress towards a political settlement.
