The UK remains open to working with all partners to promote and protect human rights. The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, my Hon. Friend the Member for Reading West (Mr Sharma) urged the Philippine government Ministers to respect human rights and uphold the rule of law in their campaign against illegal drugs during his visit to Manila last December. Most recently he also raised this in his opening statement at the 34th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.
