To ask Her Majesty’s Government whether the strategy for safeguarding unaccompanied asylum-seeking and refugee children announced on 1 November 2016 will include financial support to local authorities which undertake safeguarding assessments as part of the procedures for family reunification under the Dublin III Regulation.

Funding from the Controlling Migration Fund has been made available to local authorities that conducted family assessments during the Calais camp clearance as part of the procedures for family reunification under the Dublin III Regulation. The wider review of the funding provided to local authorities for the care and support of unaccompanied asylum seeking children will consider the costs to local authorities from conducting family assessments for future family reunification cases.
