To ask the Secretary of State for International Trade, what assessment he has made of the effectiveness of investor-state dispute settlement measures in supporting growth in international trade.

The government is currently reviewing its trade policy as the UK prepares to leave the EU. In light of this, the government is considering all options including the design of future bilateral trade and investment agreements, and the most appropriate means of providing investors with the necessary protections.
