Question for Scotland Office

UIN 41892, tabled on 5 July 2016

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland, whether an Act of Parliament would be required to allow a further binding referendum on Scottish independence.

Competence for a referendum on Scottish independence rests with the UK Parliament. Less than two years ago the people of Scotland voted decisively to remain part of the United Kingdom. The Edinburgh Agreement committed both the UK and Scottish Governments to respect this result.
