The projects in addition to the agreed Rail Investment Strategy are:

Project

Funding (m)

Ely-Soham double tracking

35.0

Syston – Stoke gauge enhancement

20.0

Sheffield Tram Train

48.0

New Stations Fund (5 stations)

19.7

Windermere electrification

16.0

Western flood resistance

26.0

Hull electrification study

2.5

Coventry – Nuneaton Phase 2

5.0

Wigan – Bolton electrification

37.0

Gospel Oak – Barking and London freight electrification

90.0

Gatwick station (second phase)

20.0

Chesterton Station

44.0

Access for All ‘top-up’

60.0

The project funding is not broken down by year as Network Rail was reclassified to the public sector, which means that project funding spend is triggered by the projects’ actual expenditure in each year.

There is a small variation between the total funding amounts in this table and the one sent earlier under the heading “Funding for projects in addition to the agreed Rail Investment Strategy”. This is because the table in question 5694 is a cash forecast year by year, whereas this table is the price set at the projects’ earlier approval dates.

Named day questions only occur in the House of Commons. The MP tabling the question specifies the date on which they should receive an answer. MPs may not table more than five named day questions on a single day.
