To ask the Secretary of State for Health, how many cases of food poisoning have been reported from salads containing (a) salmonella and (b) bacteria in the last 12 months.

In the last 12 months, there were four outbreaks reported to Public Health England that were associated with the consumption of salad vegetables. The last reported outbreak was in October 2014.
One outbreak was caused by Salmonella and affected 17 people. Three other outbreaks were caused by bacteria other than Salmonella and affected a total of 254 people.
