To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what representations he has made to the government of Saudi Arabia about the death sentence imposed on Sheikh Nimr Baqir al-Nimr.

We are continuing to monitor this case closely. I am aware of media reports that claim Sheikh Nimr Baqir al-Nimr could be executed imminently. However, we understand that an appeal process is underway into Nimr al-Nimr’s conviction and the Government does not plan to make representations to the Government of Saudi Arabia whilst the legal process is continuing.

Named day questions only occur in the House of Commons. The MP tabling the question specifies the date on which they should receive an answer. MPs may not table more than five named day questions on a single day.
