The Serious Offending by Mobile European Criminals (SOMEC) project was primarily a research-based project, focusing on assessing the risk posed by serious European criminals, mapping how they are managed both domestically and externally, reviewing what works with sexual and violent offenders, and producing a set of recommendations for all EU Member States to consider on how to reduce the risk posed by such offenders crossing borders.
Now that the project has completed, we are considering its recommendations carefully, in order to protect the public from serious criminals within the EU, including by improving the flow of information between Member States.
