Breast Cancer: Clinical Reference Groups

Question for Department of Health

UIN 217864, tabled on 9 December 2014

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, pursuant to the Answer of 24 November 2014 to Question 214485, what assessment he has made of the potential effect of the guidance of NHS England's Breast Cancer Clinical Reference Group on clinical practice.

Answered on

We have made no such assessment.

We expect clinicians to take account of available evidence-based guidance in making treatment decisions.

NHS England's Breast Cancer Clinical Reference Group is in the process of developing clinical guidance to commissioners and expects to publish its guidance in 2015. The Group’s recommendations and any implications for commissioning and clinical practice will be considered through NHS England’s governance arrangements in respect of its directly commissioned services and will be disseminated to clinical commissioning groups for local consideration.
