Stansted Airport

Question for Department for Transport

UIN 214781, tabled on 17 November 2014

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what discussions he has had with Network Rail on the possibility of using CP6 funding to deliver the surface access improvements to Stansted Airport recommended in the Airports Commission Interim Report, published in December 2013.

The Airports Commission’s Interim Report recommended "work on developing proposals to improve the rail link between London and Stansted". To that end, we have challenged Network Rail to develop such proposals within the context of its Anglia Route Study, a draft of which is currently subject to public consultation. This integrated approach recognises that Stansted services share finite rail infrastructure with local, regional and long distance services.

The ultimate findings of the Anglia Route Study will influence the Government’s priorities for funding in Control Period 6.
