To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, if he will issue guidance to the Planning Inspectorate on decisions where the location of a planning appeal is within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, along with National Parks and the Broads, have the highest status of protection in national planning policy in relation to landscape and scenic beauty. This is set out in the National Planning Policy Framework, which must be taken into account in the preparation of local and neighbourhood plans, and is a material consideration in planning decisions.

In March 2014 we issued web-based planning guidance to support the policies in the Framework. This guidance is available to all decision makers at:
