Smart meters will operate on a secure machine-to-machine system that only authorised parties, such as energy suppliers and network companies, can access. A robust smart metering security architecture has been established to prevent unauthorised access. This was developed in consultation with leading experts from within industry and Government and is underpinned by appropriate regulatory and technical security requirements.
