To ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, who is responsible for the cost of repairing or replacing smart meters which develop faults (a) less than 12 months and (b) more than 12 months after installation.

Energy suppliers are responsible for maintaining all meters in domestic premises. It is standard industry practice to obtain warranties from meter manufacturers to cover the costs of repair and replacement of several years’ duration.
