Question for Department for Work and Pensions

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what steps he is taking to ensure that his Department is able to cross-check data on housing costs within the universal credit programme in order to counter fraud.

This answer is the replacement for a previous holding answer.

The universal credit system is already protected against fraud and error and security experts are involved at each stage of UC design. It is not in the public interest to disclose detailed plans or processes.

Named day
Named day questions only occur in the House of Commons. The MP tabling the question specifies the date on which they should receive an answer. MPs may not table more than five named day questions on a single day.
